My name is Marais Nell and I am a professional freelance photographer, specialising in wedding photography since 2000.

I love to do creative wedding, baby, family portrait and maternity photographs. My style is artistic and unique, capturing the emotion of the moment to create memories that will last for a lifetime. The documentary (reportage) style is a trademark of my photography, and is enhanced by my use of black & white, sepia, or colour for specific photographs.

I enjoy doing family shoots at distinctive locations. The last hour of sunlight is the best time of the day as it provides warm, natural light that is perfect for portraits with texture and striking contrast.

I also take studio photographs, and have a portable studio that gives me the versatility to setup in the comfort of your own home. Experience has taught me that photographing children and babies in their own environment is a more rewarding experience for both parents and children – and the pictures are testimony to this.

A baby or family photo session usually takes an hour to complete and I will need approximately a week to edit the photographs.

A family-shoot package includes a CD containing high-resolution edited photographs which are ready to be printed. Typically this could be anywhere from 30 to 120 photographs. All the raw images are also included on the disc, since only selected images are edited for printing. Once you receive the CD you can order enlargements and prints directly from me.

Regarding wedding photography, I only book 20 weddings per year. My goal is to be very exclusive, so that I can offer the bride and groom the attention that such an incredibly special day deserves. I offer numerous packages that can be tailor-made to suit your requirements.

In addition to standard digital prints I also offer canvas prints, and design coffee table and photo books for wedding and baby photography (either custom printed or genuine leather covers are available).

I do most of my weddings in  South Africa, namely in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Clarens, Kroonstad, Bloemfontein, Nelspruit, Parys (Kiepersol, O’s, Vaal DeSioleh) Drakensberg, Durbanville, Stellenbosch, Magaliesburg, Muldersdrift( Avianto, Memoire, Moon & Six Pence Oak field farm), Vanderbijlpark and the rest of the Vaal Triangle. International destinations such as Namibia can also be accommodated.
